Dating : He is not the Boogie Man

Who’s that guy? There will always be a mysterious side to the opposite sex that we will never fully understand and maybe we are not meant to. The strength and weaknesses are obvious on some level and heavily veiled in other aspects. I hear concerns from other ladies from time to time and just wanted to remind you. He is not the Boogie Man.

We fear many of the dark aspects of men and her countless horror stories of the trouble a woman can get into if she dates or even befriends the wrong man. The Narcissist, abuser, the user, the obsessor, and I almost forgot the life derailer are all men we long to stay away from. It’s to the point that they make dating for a lot of us unappealing or at the very least very tiring.

So what do I do? Do I stay away from all men? Should I side-eye — every guy that walks buy? Should I commit myself to a life of solitude? Solitude isn’t so bad if you want it, but do you? I can easily enjoy my time alone, but I would prefer a companion in my life. I can easily turn this thing around and be very annoyed if every guy assumed I was the walking horror stories they heard from their friends, family, or sources. I am not all the scary embodiments they the fearful would describe women as.

This does not mean that I agree with that song and dance about giving every guy a chance that quickly becomes a way to waste your time. That being said, you should focus on the characteristics that you feel match your personality. What type of person would your future guy be? Think of this from all angles you need from him. As a lover, what kind should he be? What kind of husband should he be? What kind of fatherly traits should he have, if children are part of the program?

Marrying is not for everyone so I will not push it on to anyone, but if it is for you. Then it doesn’t hurt to take the time and ask yourself these questions. It will make you happier in the long run, leading you closer to the one.

Dating should be a fun experience we enjoy. We should be able to look forward to meeting someone interesting with the potential of being the right person. Good luck with finding the love of your life. I hope they will show up sooner than we think.
