Dating : I’ve never been in love

h2>Dating : I’ve never been in love

Tia Sharma

They told me love was this beautiful thing

Could it just be: a mix of chemicals

Or maybe even, an evolutionary behavior

or even an alliance

Yet, these aren’t how I identify with the term

Love is when I could talk for hours and they would actually listen to everything I said

Love is when I’d forget to eat and they remind me

filled with anger and frustration on how I treated their favorite person.

Love sounded like sarcasm and silent company

Love smelled like a lot of onion juice (because of hair fall)

Love felt like fingers tracing on my back

Love looked like a whole conversation through our own secret sign language

Love was being there for them as much as they’re for me

Each in our own ways.

But it doesn’t count, because that’s my love for my best friend

Not for someone, I want to marry

Not for my prince charming

So tell me cupid, is there another term for what I feel?

This bewildering allure I have towards this ‘love’ of yours

So vulnerable

So perplexing

Leaving me breathless, searching for a term to explain this feeling

Because my prince charming was anything but

the emotions I felt for him were less intense

Just as complex but less happy,

If love is pain then

prince charming, I love you

If not,

Then I’ve never been in love
