A Chiasm
A walk along a lonely street
Oppressed by damp and heavy air
Soon led his mind to fond retreat
Away from stress he just might dare
To dream for just a moment
Although he kept on walking there
A wet and chill wind blew kind bliss
Of past and gone sights seen elsewhere
When as a child he knew but this
Simple joys and happiness
The child through window did witness
The same dark skies upon bare road
But turned swift with lightning’s quickness
And smiled and laughed and nearly glowed
As he engaged in childish fun
Brothers pretended bombs explode
His sisters told strange fairytales
And into the fray the child rode
Pure ecstasy and happy wails
A memory to never lose
A thunder above cloudy veils
With shock did tear the dreams away
At once the great colored dream pales
As thoughts return to present day
And worry attempts to return
But refreshed he marched home to slay
What problems took an evil toll
Rest and nostalgia can belay
The burdens on a poor tired soul
So dream for just a moment
