Our eyes met from across the room. I was engulfed by a sea of people, every which one of them dancing and laughing. You were sitting at a table, alone with drink in hand. The room stopped spinning, and everyone was quiet. I kept dancing but never let my gaze from you escape. You rose your glass at me, begging me to keep moving. My toes felt so light. So I kept dancing. Boy, did you catch my attention. You slowly traced the tips of your mustache with your two fingers, down to the edge of your jaw. I could not quit watching your move, and you, mine. It felt as though we were embraced in each other’s arms whilst dancing alone in the room — even our souls mingled. All other thoughts were meaningless until now. Until… “Are you alright,” he asked, in a foreign yet all too familiar voice. “Oh. Uh. Yeah. Yeah, I am.” The music flooded back before I was ready for it, and I nearly fainted. I stopped moving, but everyone else picked up exactly from where they left. And there I was, back in reality again, trying to look happily married at my own wedding. Trying to not let me gaze at you arouse suspicion.
