h2>Dating : Roller Coaster Romance
After the ride, I stumble from the cart.
Greg: Amy, wait!
I don’t want him to see me.
I made a fool of myself.
Greg runs up to me.
Greg: Are you alright?
Amy: Well, I’m standing.
I collapse into his arms and he helps me to a bench.
Today just gets worse and worse.
Greg: What happened back there?
Time to confess.
Amy: I hate rollercoasters. I always have.
Greg: I could see that. My arm has the nail marks to prove it.
He holds up his arm and I wince.
Amy: Did I hurt you?
Greg: Nothing hurts me. I have a cat.
We share a chuckle, but I quickly look away.
Greg joins me on the bench.
Greg: But why’d you get on?
Amy: You’re such a brilliant photographer.
Greg: I don’t see the relation.
He gives a gentle smile.
Amy: I’ve had a crush on you all year. I wanted to ask you out months ago…But I didn’t know how.
Greg touches my arm lightly.
Greg: “How about dinner?” might’ve worked.
I grow red.
Amy: I didn’t think you’d be interested in me.
Greg: Why would you think that?
Amy: I know you’re big into sports…while I can barely bike up a driveway.
I sigh.
Amy: Today was the closest we’ve gotten and I…I didn’t want it to end.
Greg laughs.
Greg: I mean, you could’ve waited outside.
I blush.
Amy: In hindsight, that makes sense.
Greg: And Amy…
We share a look.
Greg: I don’t want it to end either.
He brushes the hair from my eyes.
I feel dizzy.
And it’s NOT the motion sickness.
Amy: Why? I tried to be brave and I totally blew it.
Greg: No, you didn’t. You faced your fear. And that’s brave.
I let out a startled laugh.
Greg thinks I’m brave?
He scaled a rock wall with no rope!
And…shirtless.
When he showed that photo in class, I stayed after the bell rang.
Amy: I was going with the flow.
Greg: I tell you what…
He stands next to me and I can feel his body heat.
Greg: You pick the next ride.
Amy: That’s a lot of responsibility.
Greg: You’ve earned it.
A grin grows on my face.
I know exactly what to say.
Amy: Teacup Palace!
Greg has a look of horror.
But it quickly turns into a smile.
Greg: I should’ve known. I guess I had it coming, huh?
Amy: Scared?
Greg: You’ll know if I clench your arm.
And before I can stop myself:
Amy: I’m counting on it.
We stare at each other in anticipation.
And, finally, he leans in for a kiss.
The roller coaster roars above us.
But it pales to the thrill in my heart.
The End.
