Dating : Short Story #1

Author’s note: This is inspired by Girl which is sung by Daoko.

And the scene was truly beautiful. The sky was painted a gorgeous pink with spots of purple, blue and yellow. The stars and planets were visible in it. The turquoise-haired girl looked into the clear light pink ocean as she stood upon the edge of the small white canoe. Her long locks fluttered in the wind as the canoe slowly glided through the water.

The tranquility of the scene was a contrast to the turmoil the girl had been feeling inside. She had been suffering from depression from a long time and had finally reached rock bottom. Her parents were very strict and never praised her or gave her love. She was respected at school by many, but wasn’t friends with anyone. She had never really had a relationship of a romantic nature with anyone.

She closed her eyes, crossed her arms over her chest and plunged into the water.

She was dying, yes. But… there was something graceful, something beautiful about her death. And as she slowly descended into the depths of the ocean, she let her arms rest at her side. Her blouse, skirt and loafers were soaked, but she couldn’t care less. And as she was descending into the depths of the ocean, she didn’t struggle. She opened her eyes to see a school of fish swim by.

Her memories, both good and bad ones, flashed through her mind. She didn’t get upset from the bad memories, though. She wouldn’t have to worry about them when she passed.

So, as she was she was starting to die, her vision started to become hazy and she began to lose air. Taking her last breath, she finally surrendered herself to the ocean. And nobody had witnessed her dying. And nobody had heard anything. And nobody came.
