h2>Dating : Yellow
tell me about all that makes your day yellow
tell me of the bright and early awakening, the bleary but hopeful look outside the window;
or perhaps the groggy dread of the late rise, the afternoon light seeping in through your window — both are, to me
so precious, my sunlight
you, my sunshine, little sunflower growing high above the grasses
little dandelion in the cracks, popping up with the cheeriest greeting this heart
cold as it may feel, could never deny
deny you? i would deny life –
deny myself the admittance of a happiness placed so lovingly in my hands
the hands raised in supplication, in prayer, filled with sunlight so they overflow
into my lap, where i hope there are some flower petals left
kissed with memory from our last meeting.
To know you is to know life as deliciously as i know my favourite kind of laughter
the kind at night, stifled, joyously silly in its mischief
the kind that evokes smiles, young and old, from passers-by
a silent revelation in the joy of another — how precious that we
love each other so dearly as if i know the lady on the sidewalk and she knows me
how lovely that my smile may spread to her, may spread to her
coworker, may spread to their son, may spread to their son’s friend –
may spread to their son’s friend’s uncle’s flight stewardess’s cousin,
might spread to the cousin’s best friend’s mother’s chance meeting with your mother
might spread to your mother’s you,
how joyously unbreakable, how unstoppable, this journey
as the earth turns and the sun shines
so must happiness dissipate and spread in a finite universe
i will always be content knowing it will reach you,
no matter how long,
sweet honey yellow, spread into your soul
