How long does it take to forget your ex?
Deciding to end a romantic relationship, or to get dumped, is never really joy. But rest assured, getting over it takes on average a lot less time than you might imagine.
How long does it take to stop thinking about your ex?
The magazine The Journal of Positive Psychology published the results of a long survey by researchers from the American University of Mounmouth.
The study looked at the emotional state of 155 people who came from experience a breakup.
71% of those questioned who had initiated or undergone a separation within six months, judged to have felt better after eleven weeks.
It is therefore only after three months that one can in theory begin to feel the « positive » effects of this rupture, and not to think about your ex all the time.
This stage represents the moment when men, like women, come out of the painful state of rupture to truly rebuild themselves.
For very long relationships and married couples, on the other hand, it takes more than eleven weeks. The average time to start getting better and recovering from a divorce is 18 months, or a year and a half.

The survey also shows that this three-month period is the same for the one who leaves.
When you’re heartbroken, you drown your heartache in a big pot of ice cream or spread. It is difficult to imagine then that the person responsible for our misfortunes is also in a bad state.
And yet, whoever leaves cannot erase the relationship with the wave of a magic wand.
Even if he is the initiator of the decision, and he undoubtedly has good reasons, he takes just as long to recover from it. This is enough to boost (a little) the morale of those who are on the side of the dropped.
