POF : Is it just me or is POF like the literal wild Wild West of OLD?
Just to expand; regular high resolution photos look like they were taken through a potato filter.
I can’t even keep a count of the amount of fake profiles that ‘match’ as soon as I open the app, then promptly disappear before you can even attempt a check.
It’s sort of confusing if it’s a legitimate source of dates compared to other sites or just a bots playground…

POF is the trailer park of dating websites. It is what it is.
I’ve noticed that while POF is ghetto AF, its one of the few places where you can a c t u a l l y search and message without paying membership. It doesn’t have the same « horny meat market » rep as Grinder or Tinder. Because its actually tenable as a free site, it has a healthy user base in most metro areas.
POF is NO ONE’s first choice, but the catch is, its everyone’s second third fourth fifth choice dating site. It works because everyone is on there, even though no one really likes it as much. Every one who has what they consider their « real » dating apps also has a « throwaway » POF account.

Yes to both.
POF « works » because, its easy to set up a free account and send and receive messages. This of course, also makes it a good target for fake account scammers.

What i think it is is, its not keeping the original photo, but making low file size copies of the photos. This would make sense since it would keep the data storage required per profile fairly easy to estimate and speed up load time on mobile devices.
It does bother me how much they lower photo quality. But it’s otherwise not much different than the rest.
My photos look the same on POF and on my phone. It’s not POF making the photos bad, people are just using sucky ones. It’s free to use, so I don’t know what kind of standard you are hoping they implement. If I had a dime for everytime I heard someone complain about bots, though, I’d be rich. If it bothers you just use another site.
