Happens to me very often when selecting through my “matches” and I try to message one. And I’m a woman. Very annoying.
It is a common occurrence that two people who are matched by a computer algorithm may not be an actual match.
A better question is why is the algorithm showing people to each other (at all) that are unsuitable via filters (for whatever reason that may be), just so they can swipe right but can’t email them? Makes you wonder how many people we swipe right on that want to get in touch, but can’t. I suspect it’s just to get people on the site, no matter how unproductive it may be.
I feel like a better approach would be for people to use the search function and dealbreakers to filter people down to a reasonable amounts and attempt to email them. Versus using the “matching” algorithm (which seems more arbitrary than anything).
