POF : Is it safe to give someone your contact?
This person asked for my contact after a short conversation. Is it safe to give away my phone number? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

A short conversation? I wouldn’t recommend it.
No , I’d hold back at least the first couple of days.
Many scammers seek direct contact outside of POF after short message exchanges. Don’t do it. Try to exchange a sufficient number of messages that involve content that will help you have a high level of confidence about the person. In some cases, scammers might not even have the same gender as the gender of the fake profile they use to send you messages.
Yeah i wouldn’t, especially since it’s only a short convo. I downloaded kik just for chatting outside of the app
use a phone number burner app if you decide to give it out
Create a Google voice number for dating.
I would rather give him/her your social media account. If he/she starts harassing u there then you can just block him/her.
Why not just use the pinger app like in the old days?
Depends on where you are, the only real danger is how easily your telcos are duped into giving out your personal details. Australian law is very strict for phone privacy, so I feel my number is safer to give out than social media (much more identifying info/geotagged photos there). Phone software usually blocks scamming numbers these days as well.
