  1. I have said this exactly in the past. They want people to switch to match and Markus sold to match in 2015 or 16 I believe. Match is a scam because a lot of the profiles on there are members who no longer use the site, or they are not a paying member anymore. When it gets close to your profile expiring on match they automatically send you all these matches and people who like you, then the second it expires you go from zero messages to 4 messages. It currently tells me I have 4 messages and I am not falling for the scam again. Last time I fell for it they were all in my filtered folder or were from men who were way to far away from where I lived.

POF used to be good too because I had the best luck on POF. I met more decent guys on POF than I met on match. Anytime I met a guy on match they were 99% a jerk, and only one of them was a decent guy. Match already owned OKC and I think they wanted to whittle it down to only one free dating site but POF did so well they had no way of actually doing that, so they decided to flood it with bots and fake profiles. Also guys you think us women don’t get bots, well we do and they are always guys pretending to be active in the military

  2. dont attribute to malice that which is can be explained by stupidity

the same features that lower the barrier for legit users to sign up also enable the spammers and scammers.

  3. They don’t want to actually improve Match (adding features that POF has, for example) to make it worth the ridiculous prices, so instead they sabotage POF to make Match look better by comparison. It’s the Putin strategy.

  4. Yeah every one of them sends a message hey there 😉
If you replied of them in any way they send you links to websites that are probably full of viruses and such

  5. It wouldn’t surprise me but can you blame them? It is big business and a very clever hustle, which I’m more amazed that there is actually men willing to pay a subscription to a dating site…..£40 a month to get the same results of POF for free haha – Spend that money on something worthwhile.

  6. I’ve never had a message from a bot on pof in about 7 years of using it on and off. Maybe different experience because I’m in the UK?

  7. I just don’t get the point of Bots, are people really that stupid.
Now what does get me are the camgirl scams cause those are real people that toy with you and that is fucked up.
