I think that happens when you go through all of your Meet Me matches fairly often. No new matches from your local area have signed up, since your last launch of Meet Me. Plus, you have already swiped through all of your matches. So, how about these other matches from other locations nearby.
The pro for POF, it keeps you on their site longer. The pro for you, it gives you a chance to compare how your POF experience would differ in another region. Of course, it also wastes your time, unless you feel willing to go long distance.
