Sometimes people don’t have someone at the moment who can take their photo and it is the best way for them to get a full body shot. I have done them before when no one was around to take my photo
If no one else is taking pictures of you, then you have to do it yourself, and if you have short arms, then taking a mirror shot generally will produce a more accurate image than taking a regular selfie.
