POF : My number has been given out by someone on POF

Hi, what’s my options for dealing with this? I’m a guy and someone has given my number out to other dudes on POF.
I’ve never used POF so I don’t know how the contact happens on it. Do people match then exchange details in PMs? Can I get their profile banned/deleted/blocked? It started last week and so far 8 random fellas have reached out, I’m getting pretty annoyed at this point.

  1. If the « 8 random fellas » tell you who gave your phone number out, you can then use the report button on that person’s profile and explain the situation. But there is no guarantee that a POF moderator will do anything about it. It might be 3 days before they take action. It might be 1-2 weeks. It might be never. Maybe you can increase your chances by reporting the profile often, every day, until action is taken. I don’t know. But whoever is giving your phone number out most likely knows you and is doing this on purpose to annoy you. If it’s a woman doing it, that’s going to be a headache for you. Because she will have hundreds of thirsty guys trying to message her each day, and she will be giving each and every one of them that number. Plus, it is less likely that a woman will be banned on POF than a guy. Also, if she is ever banned she can just create a new account. I’ve seen banned women come back the very next day with a new account writing something like « my account was deleted, I had to create a new one lol ». Finally, she can just give out the number on other platforms like Craigslist, MeetMe, other dating sites, whatever. Maybe you should just get a new phone number and be done with it. And be careful who you give your phone number out to from now on. I think there is an app that lets you text and call using a proxy number so people won’t know your real number. That way if your proxy number is compromised, you can just delete it and still keep your real number.

  2. If you know who she is contact the police and fill out a harrassment complaint. It sucks but that is the only way it’s going to stop. A good cop will give her a call and let her know what she is doing is harassment. You could ask any guy in the future who calls to report her for giving them your number. Remind them that she screwed them too. Good luck.
