POF : POF sucks
Hello everyone, I’m (22m) college student. I’ve been using POF off and on for years and i have meet someone but she ended up cheating on me with her ex.
I don’t understand why POF is a complete disaster and basically a waste of time, on the other hand, i have talking to some really and interesting girls on here, but i notice that most of the girls who really like me and interested and meeting and getting to know me are the ones who lives really far away from me.
But the app is filled with sooooo many bots, scammers, and hookers, it’s basically useable. One day I’ve chatted with this girl on POF, on her profile it saids she’s 26 and im 22, so we exchange phone numbers and started chatting by phone texting each other. She told me that she was 16 and it wouldn’t let her set the age on her profile to 16 so she but 26. I’ve told her that your too young and we need to stop talking. One day her dad texted me accusing me of being a pedophile and treating to have me arrested and the only way they won’t send me to jail unless i pay for there daughter therapist. I found out that this was a scam after days of me worrying myself to death.
Most of the girls on here would literally block you just for saying hello to them, one even sent me a angry message because i keep saying hello to every girl on here according to her… Most of them ends up ghosting me, than there the girls who ask you to send cash to there cashapp or subscribe to there onlyfans. The bots on here are really out of control… I woke up and say that i had almost 50 notifications on my phone due to these bots living me messages saying « click on this link to see me naked », all of them are saying that!! I’m like WTF????
As for my profile, I’ll say that it’s pretty decent. i have more than one pictures of me, im smiling in most of them, i talk about my hobbies and what i do, etc. And like i said before most of the girls who are interested in me lives very far sadly.
I know if i stop using it, ill more than likely end up back because i keep believing it’ll be someone new and someone that’s actually interested.

Okay, first off, from your grammar/spelling, I’m guessing you’re not in the US. Forgive me as I reply as someone in the US who thinks everyone else is in the US.
So, if she lives really far away from you, she’s probably a bot/scammer. Don’t send money to anyone from POF, EVER!

Yep, you hit that one right on the head. Next time, just tell the « dad » that you’re really fucking his « wife », and not his « daughter ». LOL.

Women get a TON of messages. It’s likely you sent her the same message twice and she caught you. In any case, put some thought into that first message. Make it something more than « hey ». While a woman sending you a « hey » message will make you look at her profile and message her back, women are different. They get a lot of messages to filter through and if you can’t put in any effort, they won’t bother. Conversely, when you do write a « good » message, they often don’t reply and you’d rather just send a « hello » message and only put effort in when they show any level of interest — but they won’t, so it’s a circular problem.
As for women blocking after the first message, they’re cunts. They’re the scum of the earth. Be glad they kept you from wasting your time on their shitty asses.

There are scammers everywhere. Obviously, you can see the signs, just report them.
Also, take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror. I’m older and fat and not overly attractive, so it’s easier for me to pick out the scammers. If she looks 20, I know it’s a bot/scammer. However, if I were young and handsome, these « fake » profiles might actually be « in my league » and it’d be harder to catch them so quickly (before they ever say anything other than hello).
Dig through the shit and you might find a diamond.
