POF : What… just happened?
So I’m browsing profiles and all, and I see this girl who in her lists of interests had « Interest » and as conversation starters had « Initiative ». I usually don’t like one-word profiles (the more you write, the more I’ll like you), but this one made me laugh because of it’s simplicity, so I decided to greet her.
Not even a minute later, I got a notification in my phone and I’m like: Wow! This might be my first conversation with a real, non-bot person since I started using this app months ago! It might be thanks to all the new photos I made last week during my holidays!
Her answer was… a blunt « *I don’t like you.* » … Oh… Well, I appreciate her honesty rather than the eternal silence of hundreds, so I say « *Okay, good luck! :)* », trying to be friendly and all, and go back to chat with some Discord friends. Then, another notification, which said « *And don’t come back* ». … Eh? Why did she even…? Like, I’m not stupid, I got it the first time, duh. So I said « *O…kay? Goodbye.* » and blocked her because I really didn’t want to hear of her again. So nasty, geez.
Anyway, is this normal? As of now, this the 100% of conversations I have had in PoF (not counting the « Hi sexy go to this link so I can scam you » ones), so I can’t tell myself. She answered pretty fast, though, could it be that she was a bot, or something? But why didn’t ~~she~~ it try to sell me something, then?
I’m so confused I don’t even know if I should be laughing or crying, lol. Please help my put my feelings in order.
UPDATE: Wut? I saw the girl again in « meet me », but with a different main photo. I enter the profile and, indeed, her description and secondary photos were the same. I thought I blocked her? Meh, I swipe to dislike and go on with other profiles. And suddenly a message from her « *Stop visiting my profile* »… Really?! Hmm, I guess she just copy-pastes it to everyone who messages her or visits her profile… But I would swear I blocked her!
Anyway, thank you for your answer, guys! It’s good to know it’s not the rule, it was just bad luck 🙂

Lesson learned if you ask me. Blank profiles just scream they’re lazy to me or they think people will message them just based on looks. I mean seriously they haven’t got the time to at least reveal their interests? Either way I would avoid messaging them.
I am a female, so I don’t know if this is normal. But I would suggest laughing. Honestly, that was super rude and irritating of her. Don’t let that kind of attitude bring you down.
Block and moved on; no need to be overly friendly or bothered with people who go out of their way to say something negative like that.
Most of the replies I get online are positive/flirty (when I actually get them), but even I get a negative response like that once in a while. It’s not a rule, it doesn’t really mean anything. I never take it personal.
She’s a bit of a bitch, nothing to waste time thinking about.
Sounds like a fakr profile people are using to get laughs
There are shitty people everywhere. At least this one broadcast it loud and clear.
Some people create profiles and instigate conflict to actually post screenshots to online dating forums for likes and laughs. Some people will take the bate and sound off.
