Dating : Something’s Changed, Yet Everything Remains the Same

It’s funny how things go back to normal in no time.

One day, you have something amazing going on. The next day, that thing disappears and life goes back exactly the way it was.

When my long distance boyfriend came to visit, my life was all rainbows and unicorns. He stayed here for a few months and we got to see each other whenever we wanted to. I could tell him I missed him when I woke up in the morning, and saw him in the afternoon after I finished work. I could spend all weekend with him that we got bored of my city and didn’t do anything all day long.

But all things come to an end. Like his previous visit, this one was soon over. Airport hello turned into airport goodbye. Tears were unstoppable. Hearts were breaking.

And that’s it. He left, back to his country on the other side of the planet.

What about me? I stay in the same city where we spent the last couple months together — making memories, going places, fighting, laughing, kissing. My life continues in the same routine. I go to work, workout, go home — things are back to normal, back to the way it was a few months ago. Nothing changed.

Except my heart.

Something feels missing. Something is missing.

But still, life goes back to normal as if the last few months never happened. Maybe it’s how we cope with change and loss. Otherwise, how would we survive when we lose someone or something important?

Our lives go on, but our hearts know better. Something’s changed, yet everything remains the same.
