Sara Knick

It is difficult to really describe into words what an initial spark is in a dating scenario that may have even developed into a relationship. A time that you had meeting someone may have been super exciting and you don’t want it to end! It could be the location, how good someone looked when you met him or her or even what you were doing that felt very lively and intense.

People want to feel like they are alive and living well with love, but we all deal with struggles and challenges along the way. We may get down on ourselves because we don’t have a relationship like someone else’s and feel burdened over what we may or may not have.

If we’re single and searching for someone, we may be so intent on finding someone exciting or something exciting just to ease the numbing feeling of loneliness that we latch onto it without considering our long term future.

When we have a new experience with a new person, we feel new feelings associated with that. If we allow ourselves to let our emotions lead ahead of us, our rational side may miss the reality and facts sitting right in front of us. It is awesome to have felt an initial spark with someone that you like, but where do you want to take it?

There’s certain interests that may spark our excitement on a personal level. If we look at this same idea in a relationship, we may have felt really good and have felt a new enticing feeling in being with a particular person, but we have to ask ourselves… is this feeling enough to get us by? New experiences can be amazing for our life. We may really like the person that we have met or are with, but we must consider the facts. The facts of who this person really is needs to be considered or else our love future may be in jeopardy. We should be smart and make the right decisions and not only allow feelings to dictate our life and to chase them.

In wanting to feel a spark or a sense of excitement, we may find ourselves in unfathomable situations. We may find out that our partner is not who we thought this person originally was. We may find out some things that take us by surprise and reconsider the choice we had made in having someone as a partner. If we give our heart to a specific person that makes us feel a particular way and ignore everything else, we are heading into a very uncertain territory.

A spark in a dating or relationship situation is the result of an amazing energy that you feel with someone. It is not external. It is very real. You want to keep that energy. You don’t want it to leave. You want it to keep transforming your life.

There may be certain things that add to an experience or atmosphere to make it extremely memorable. Your heightened sense of anticipation for a date may make it more exciting. Learning that you have some things in common with someone may make you feel closer with that person. It is important to feel, but to stay grounded in the process.
