h2>Dating : Writing My First Article on Medium.

Well, I don’t know if I should call it my first post or article, but it surely is my first piece of work on this platform. I have written on one or two platforms before, but yeah, never done that seriously, but this time I think of getting serious about it.

I am just an undergrad, struggling with my final year college life in this Covid pandemic still stuck at home. I’m not an expert in any manner; I guess not even in brushing my teeth, sadly enough I have got myself a few root canals done and I hate the process. Honestly I hate it.

Don’t worry I am not here to just blabber, but to tell you something. Recently, I have felt something. Well, I guess people did feel all of it as a part of their wrap up post of 2020 for Instagram, but I have felt it since the dawn of the New Year. I wrote a poem a few days back, I would let you read that first and then draw you back to what I am feeling, it probably relates to the poem. So here it goes:

Striving through the hopelessness of the day
I’ll be waiting for you every evening
For I know you’ll come
And share with me all your lofty tales
And if someday,
You don’t find me near the altar
Neither in the kitchen making pancakes
Nor in the garden catering your long loved peonies
Don’t be scared, or scarred
Don’t let the despodence of the day
Cascade through the fall of the night
Don’t give up on the dreams
You weaved with every drop of sweat,
and all your might.

If any of this happens ever
Just close your eyes and remember
You aren’t alone
You are loved by you your grand mom
And you’ll be loved forever.

– Love Grandma

I am hopeful that you could make some sense out of it! I thought of my grandmom, and thought of what she probably thinks of me and jotted down a few words, some phrases and patches here and there to make this poem. Reading this poem again, triggered in me something that compelled me to think of our relationships with our loved one’s. I believe, People who love us, affect us. Please read that again if you read it hurriedly, I don’t mean people who we love affect us, it’s the other way round. It’s their love that keeps us going, their compassion that keeps us beaming with life, their prayers that fuels us to fight battles of life. Of course, it’s our hardwork but it’s their faith and trust in us that instills us with the feeling of responsibility, ownership and accountability. We all love our parents, but the way they love us has no match. Just a look into their eyes is enough to fill us with all that sense of positivity, bravery, power and hope.

With all the over thinking I’ve done in a past few days, I’ve come to realise how impactful the people who surround us are. So make sure you surround youself with people who love you, because sometimes you may end up investing you care and affection in the wrong one, but anyone who loves you will never wrong you. Choose your friends wisely, and always love back who tirelessly love you, and don’t forget to love yourself first!
