I tried to escape my desert the best way I knew how. But it was hurtful to you because I was hurting me.

You were my guide, my leader, my ideal. I tried to be like you and failed. I tried to like you and failed. I tried to escape you and failed.

You offered support and I let go. You offered kindness I’ll never know. Unrequited love kept always below the obvious pleasure we shared and let go.

I ran to be free, to escape with the wind. Yet often you were near and still a friend. So now we come back together again, with hopes of reunion and forgiveness of sin.

We must work it out and never depart from friendship so deep inside the heart. No more put downs with blame just on you. I know that I need you and you need me too.

Together invincible while apart in pain. Remember I love you the perfect refrain. So now we combine to multiply strengths. And stop tearing down each other at lengths.

Will you forgive me and curse me no more? Change both our attitudes into something much more? Merge in the present and forget I past as we try together to make something last.

Now get back over here and show some empathy. You’re pathetic and need to clean up your act. NOW!
