POF : FYI most dating sites and apps including POF require you to give a cell phone number, unless its a paid site.
For those of you who are pissed that POF is asking you for a cell phone number, you will be hard pressed to find a free dating site that does not ask you for a cell phone number for verification when you sign up. 95% of them ask you to either sign up with an email, Facebook, or a cellphone number. When you sign up with an email they almost always ask you to provide a cellphone number so they can send you a code to prove you are a real person and not a bot. It is a security measure that a lot of sites not just dating sites and apps use now a days. So if you are unwilling to give up your private cell number then online dating is not for you. That is just how it works now a days, and they legally can’t sell your phone number to anyone that is against the policy and they can get sued by the FTC for doing so.

What pisses me off is using your phone number during registration is supposed to be a way to cut down on the spammers that register for the site. Problem is, it doesn’t work. Across all dating apps that require a phone number during registration, there’s still tons of new spam accounts created daily.
Who cares. I’m sick of every friggin thing wanting my phone number. We have a right to some privacy! What’s left of it! Sad thing is, they know the number, they just need suckers to match it to solidify the number they get from Google! I ain’t gonna be one of them!
