Dr. Safra bounced about the replicator lab like a kid on Christmas morning. He eagerly awaited the intern’s reaction. She grimaced slightly as she masticated some fabricated banana. Then she quickly grabbed a water bottle off the lab table.

“Great, right?” he said.

“It’s…”

“Edible?”

She shrugged. His shoulders sagged.

“But it has all the nutrients,” he said.

“Like chewable vitamins,” she said. “Just the flavorless, awful kind.”

He hit the replicator machine. “Dammit!” he yelled. “Another failed experiment.”

“The peel is a nice touch, though,” she tried to reassure. Then she nibbled a piece. “That’s actually the best part.”
