First date at 30

At 30 years old, I never imagined myself being so nervous for a first date. Well, technically it’s not my first date ever. It’s just that I haven’t been on a date for so long that it feels like it’s my first date. I was so nervous that I even looked online for what to wear on a first date. Seriously. I was that desperate. Obviously, I wanted to make a good first impression and surely, girls would dress up for first dates. Did I just say girls? I’m 30 years old, I’m a woman and not a girl but yet, here I am, acting like I’m a teenager going on her first date.

At this age, first dates are not supposed to be a big deal anymore. I shouldn’t be this anxious right? But because of this anxiety, I realized that I’m feeling this way because I don’t go out as much. I don’t go out on dates that’s why I don’t know what to do or what to wear. First dates shouldn’t be this stressful for a 30 year old woman. I should be confident in whatever I wear or what I do. I have a stable job and I believe I look attractive enough. If that’s the case then why do I feel like it’s so hard to impress someone? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one feeling this way. A lot of women out there just wants to have a good first date. It doesn’t have to be perfect but just not a disaster really.

Actually, I’m writing this now because my first date just finished a couple of hours ago and it was awkward. I think most first dates are, especially if you’re just meeting them for the first time. My date was definitely one of them but I’m glad I went through this first date. It was nerve-wracking and stressful but at the same time, it was good to go out to say, ‘I went out on a date!’. I’m honestly proud of myself for going through it. Whether there’s a second date or not, I’m okay. Cause if there won’t be one, then I’m sure I’ll be ready and better for my next first date.
