Dating : Getting back into dating after long time (33m)
Recently got out of a marriage, no kids or anything but were were exclusive for over 11 years. I’ve spent the last few months doing the whole dating app thing and don’t seem to have much issue getting matches, or really even first dates. I get that dating is supposed to be a numbers game to a degree, but I feel like I have no idea what to really do after the first date or two, once the initial « interview » phase is over. I’ve been on probably a dozen or so dates, and it’s roughly 50/50 that I’m not interested or they aren’t interested with like 2 that were « maybes » so went on second dates but lost interest. I’ve finally found one where it’s going on to the third date and we’ve been back and forth texting just about every day (usually just a « hey how’s your day going » kind of thing) for almost 3 weeks. She’s very slow to respond though, but I don’t know if she’s really trying to play it cool, not actually very interested, or if she’s actually really that bad at responding to things. But every other signal is telling me she’s interested though. I’m kind of at a loss on proper dating etiquette in these modern times. I try reading « mens » articles, but they seem to be tailored to like 30 something NYC stockbrokers. At what point should I actually start bringing up things like what we ultimately want in a relationship, or start moving towards exclusivity territory? I’m not trying to move in together next month or anything, but like go from « hey, I enjoy going on dates with you » to « should we hang up the dating apps for now » or something.
