I live in NYC, I don’t go out every weekend but I’ve had my fair share of bars.

What type of bars would you go to? There are all types of bars/clubs all with different scenes. If you’re the type of person that can smile in any situation, I’d say definitely go to a bar, make friends and if you feel comfortable, let people know you’re new in town (if they seem like you can trust them).

Keep your wits about you, know what you’re going in for and most importantly, always be safe.
Nope, I go there to get something to eat too.
It’s not weird. Just try not to get too drunk, and stay safe! (Pepper spray is never a bad idea.)
I’m wondering about doing this as well. I kinda hate the idea of waiting to have people in my life to go out and do things. I’m a homebody but enjoy a night out or two. I moved to a new state a year ago and have not made any worth while friends who I feel comfortable hitting up to go out with. When I do go do stuff alone I sometimes feel miserable afterwards. But the time I have by myself is usually fun. So if I were advising you I’d say do it. Hopefully soon I’ll start taking my own advise
Some people think it is, but who cares? You’re not hurting anyone.
I’ve been in the same boat and wondering the about it too. I’m a guy but more on the introverted side though, a few friends would be nice.
