Hey,

If you quit social media and dating apps, how do you meet someone if you have a limited social circle?

  1. If I remember correctly from back before cell phones.

There was a great place we went called ‘Out’.

We would leave our houses and go see people at different places. The bar, the grocery store, coffee place…etc.

When you are at these places, It’s quite alright to stand near someone and start a conversation with your voice instead of emojis.

  2. If you consider your social circle limited, you might want to try expanding it just a bit.

Maybe try going out with your coworkers after work? Or, if you have time, try picking up a hobby and meeting up with others who are also into that hobby.

  3. Maybe someone can change my mind but I think its almost impossible.
People will tell you, just go and talk like oldschoold but its oldschool for a reason, its not like it will never ever work for anyone but its so rare .. Even if they wish for a relationship – if they walk a dog, they just want to walk a dog. If they go buy something to eat, they just want to buy something to eat. If they are on their way to somewhere, they just want to arrive. How dare you talk to them? They dont have time and dont want to talk! Ofc Im saying it a bit extreme but basically its just like that. And now imagine the chances of succes with this method if you are « only » average looking.

I actually talked about this topic a few weeks ago with some friends and we found out, we know not one person, that has a gf w/o knowing her from school, university, old same activitys or THROUGH FRIENDS (may ways here btw). Not one Person that just went like « yes, I will just try to talk to her ».

  4. Besides just meeting people when you’re out and about, ask your friends to set you up with people. Ask them if they know of anyone who even maybe knows someone else who could work with you!

  5. No fucking idea. Not exactly missing much by quitting those things but if you were an engineer in college and then ended up in a tech job with no girls and have all guy friends basically its GG. The only option is risk being potentially creepy or off putting in some way at a hobby meetup or cold approach.

  6. I’m in the same situation. It’s hopeless. I can’t use online dating because no girl gives me a chance when they see my picture. And I have barely any friends. And I’m even fit and tall. But as a guy that’s not enough. Tough luck.
I honestly don’t see a way to ever get a GF.

  7. Do you want to expand your social circle or keep it small? You’ll have more luck meeting someone by expanding it:

Volunteer in something you’re passionate about, join a beginners salsa class, do a certificate in something educational you like, check out online if there are groups in your area that have the same hobbies/interests, make an effort with folks in work.

  8. I’m in the same situation where I’ve quit online dating and, while I’m still active on social media, my group of friends is very limited and they themselves don’t know people either.

I’ve looked at coworkers, one of them set me up with this guy and we saw each other for a couple of weeks, so while you don’t have to get with them they could definitely set you up!

Also if you’re in school there’s gotta be clubs which are easy since it’s common interests with people but also you meet people in your classrooms too.

  9. Try new things that you think you’d enjoy or find meaningful, so that even if you don’t meet someone, you’ll still have a good time and won’t just be focused on looking for someone else. For example: sign up for a course in something you’ve always wanted to try (like maybe glassblowing, silversmithing, or just dancing). If you can’t afford it, search for trial courses. Look for a book club in your area, or any kind of discussion group for topics you find interesting (I enjoy the app meetup for this). Start playing a sport just for fun. Volunteer for a cause you believe in.

    Good luck.
