Dating : Should I have to ask for my own money?

Dating : Should I have to ask for my own money?

Long story short, this guy I’m seeing decides to take majority of my paycheck and keeps it so I don’t waste it. Is that right or is it a form of manipulation or abuse? I’m genuinely confused about it and I don’t like having to ask for my own money that I worked hard for to buy food etc cause he calls it wasting.

  1. So no one should take your money without permission. Have you been together for a very long time and do you share a bank account? Is he putting your money in a Roth IRA?

You should know the details of what he is doing, and if you have to ask for an allowance for your own spending money(again unless you have multiple kids and are a functional “married” couple) this is a form of control. That being said there isn’t enough info for me to make a judgement call on.

  2. No. But I have a business proposal I’d like to run by you.

If you are uncomfortable with it. No. If you arent and need help managing finances (Like some 21 year olds do) and agreed to this, it can work though. I dont know your situation enough to be sure.

  3. Just keep your money with yourself and let him track your spending through one of those phone apps that track your spending. The app can be on his phone as long as you login into your bank account on his phone. This will allow him to track your spending but he won’t have access to your bank account. Double check this tho cause I’m not sure.
