Dating : Bad grammar/mistakes in dating profiles…does anyone proofread anymore??

I’m (28F) hesitant to respond to messages from guys on dating sites who have poorly written/edited profiles. Am I being too picky? Like is it really that difficult to re-read what you typed and notice/fix mistakes? Is it a sign that these guys aren’t educated, or that they just don’t care?

I’m not sure what to think. And many of these guys are 26-34 yrs old.

Would you still give these guys a chance? Or men, would you give women a chance if their bio was poorly written/edited?

    No, I wouldn’t.

Take into consideration what you want. I personally want to be challenged in meaningful conversations. Anything personal. Or anything about any STEM field although preferrably related to CS, software or hardware. Or anything about psychology, philosophy, history or politics. Currently I have friends (and Reddit) for that but seeing that I’m already bored as fuck of my original family because they don’t maintain an adequate debate culture I’d get bored of any girlfriend who couldn’t keep up. And I don’t think someone who couldn’t even bother to write his/her biography correctly could.

  2. I am a professional grammarian. With that said, things like this don’t bother me. People have bad qualities along with the good. Don’t let it bother you. Most people type those up on a phone and carelessly submit. It isn’t from lack of education. Most people as they age do not have jobs where perfect grammar is all that crucial to their daily lives and forget details. If I didn’t see it everyday, I am not sure I would know many of the grammatical errors you made with your post.

  3. Depends.

Is English his first language? Then I don’t really bother because I can get pretty catty about it. English isn’t my first language but I can still write properly, so that’s a pretty big deal to me.

Is English not his first language? Then that’s fine.
