Dating : Funny Tinder date story
There’s a lot of posts here that have a lot of people disappointed so thought I’d post something funnier to lighten the mood!
So I went on a few dates with this guy a while back and I am still laughing about it to this day.
I met him on Tinder, and it so happened that some of my best friends who went to the same private school with him had already knew of him! Naturally, I thought “ok so it’s probably safe to go out with this guy and give him a chance”, right? We go out a few times and he’s a lot of fun and I enjoy hanging out with him.
We start to get to know each other and he tells me how he moved here from Canada and his sister goes to college there and so on. He tells me all these stories about living there and how cool it is and even speaks with a slight Canadian accent at times. Honestly, most of our conversations were about Canada and how obsessed he was with it.
As time goes on, we both get pretty busy and lose touch. I still keep up with him as a friend and all, and we both were in the process of deciding on which college we were going to attend. He tells me that the only place he was looking at and planned on going to was a Canadian University because he doesn’t have to pay as an “international” student and, of course, loves his “home” place.
A few months later, my friends ask me if I’m still seeing this guy, and I tell them no, we just lost touch and all. They ask me if he told me all about him being Canadian, and I tell them “yeah why?”.
Turns out this guy was NOT Canadian at all. He just used the idea of him being Canadian to peak my interest in him, as if his “Canadian heritage” was going to win me over lol.
I mean props to this guy for fooling me for so long having me think that he was actually from there and knew ALL about the place. They also said that he had told previous girlfriends that same life story.
I have no animosity towards this guy, because we did enjoy hanging out when we did, but it’s just kind of shocking to hear after the fact that this guy thought being “Canadian” was supposed to be the most interesting thing about him 😂
As an actual Canadian, I feel obligated to apologize for his lies.
You’re just upset that he’s not canadian.
I’ve had guys fetishize where I’m from and it creeped me out. It’s ok to have hometown pride and what not but making it your prime attribute is cringey! Lol
LMFAOOOO WHAT where do you live? please say the US to make this even funnier
Wow that’s really strange lol
I went on a date with a girl once, and she must have been nervous because, all she could talk about was how I should visit Canada.
How is this funny? It’s just sad.
> Turns out this guy was NOT Canadian at all. He just used the idea of him being Canadian to peak my interest in him, as if his “Canadian heritage” was going to win me over lol.
Pretty cringe but I can somewhat understand. You basically have to juggle chickens while standing on your head to stand out in OLD as a guy.
Lol! Every single guy you know lies to you. Just not that extravagantly. That’s why he was able to fool you so long. You don’t realize you believe lies. That’s why you keep finding out every guy you have been with was a liar. Men don’t get sex unless they lie. You think truth is a lie, so every guy that has told you the truth you blew off thinking he was a liar. Look at all your girlfriends. How they all cheat and get cheated on. This is because they are all lying.
So it turned out he wasn’t Canadian and you stopped dating him?
So the only thing that was keeping you around with him was the fact he was Canadian?
I once was asked on a ‘date’ simply due to my ‘British’ accent by an American girl. We were both travelling and were staying at a hostel in Eastern Europe. I’m not actually British, but I’ve lived there long enough to appear British..? So I did my best to be as British as I could to fulfil her fantasy. It was interesting and apart from the obvious lie, it was a good date. Wish I was as interesting to people at home.
