Dating : 25 and never tried dating apps
I have been single for over a year and sometimes I blame it on the fact that I’m not on any dating apps.
I’m not 100% opposed to the idea but, I would much rather meet people out in the real world especially since I’m looking for something serious. I always thought dating apps were mainly for hookups.
Am I missing out by not using these apps? Are there young people out there who don’t like dating apps either?
I don’t use dating apps. I use event apps. Look at Meetup and Eventbrite. I’m going to a board games Meetup on Friday and a speed dating event on Saturday. I’ll probably meet someone at both, but meeting people isn’t the issue. The problem is making a connection with someone. I use dating apps but I know I’ll probably never meet someone really special on one. A friend of mine put it this way, dating apps are more of a game than anything serious.
The reason why it’s a common opinion that dating apps are for hookups is because the people who want hookups stay on them after finding what they’re looking for while the monogamous people remove themselves from the pool after finding someone. There are still relationship oriented people on there, it’ll just take a lot of patience (and some luck) to find them.
That said, I dislike dating apps a lot and am opposed to them. I’m 26 and can find plenty of women in person, so maybe you can change your approach to also find someone without having to rely on apps?
You’re not missing much. Guys have a pretty hard time on dating apps these days. Girls use them for meaningless validation or to increase their follower count. Plus, it’s hard to find ones that are willing to commit.
