Dating : He made a joke about my sister being ugly.. Am I overreacting?
We’ve been on 5 dates now. We’re in our late 20s.
We had a good tone and he decided to call me for a few minutes tonight. I hate phone calls so I didn’t say much. He was nervous and cracked a joke about « figuring out he was gay after he saw my sister ».
My siblings are the most important things to me in this world. I seriously reacted with disgust. I thought I misheard him at first, but he confirmed the joke in chat after when I asked about it.
I knew he tends to crack a few « bad » jokes, but this one was just so idiotic to me.
He specified that it was just a really bad joke and that of course he didn’t mean anything by it. He said sorry.
I’m almost unsure if I can forgive the joke tbh. Am I overreacting?

Pretty jerk thing to say, but at least he said he was sorry. Could be he is really into you and feels awkward and doesn’t know what to say. I’ve made my fair share of idiotic « jokes » to women I liked for no better reason than that awkward feeling of needing to say SOMETHING
