I’m wondering how common this is. I never get any first messages from females (unless it’s an obvious bot on POF). This is true even on sites that have matching/like systems, such as OkCupid. A female may « like » me, but they never actually message first.

I was speaking to a female who I matched with on OkCupid. She was obese – I’m talking like 300lbs at only 5’5, big rolls of fat, really unhealthy levels of weight. I let onto the fact my inbox is empty and I don’t get messages from anyone unless I message first. She was shocked and told me she gets plenty of messages and interest from men. Bearing in mind she is incredibly obese, but is still getting plenty of messages in her inbox.

Anyway, do guys here experience this? I wonder what it takes to get females to message you first.

  1. Had tinder for 6 months. Matched with a little over 1000 girls. Had approximately 5 girls message me first.

Here are other stats if anyone is curious:

20% no messages sent either way (realised they weren’t attractive or they were bots, and they never messaged me). 60% I messaged and got no response. 20% I messaged and a convo occurred. Of that 20%, vast majority convos died. Obtained maybe 30 phone numbers. Met up with 25 girls. Hooked up with approx. 20. Slept with approx 15.

I count that a 1.5% match to bed rate.

  2. I’ve had a few message me first, I have yet to message anyone. One of them led to a couple nice dates, while that was going on I put the others in hold, felt like I could only focus on one at a time. I’ve also given it a break lately while I sort myself out (not in any rush) so I’m not really sure if it’s going to be common.
