Dating : New to OLD, and I need help with how I should be reacting to a situation

I 21M got Bumble and Hinge last month, got one match on Bumble (Rural area) with a 19F. She starts with the generic « Hey » and I ask her about what she’s doing this summer. However, the conversation is completely one sided, with only one or two word responses from her, so I just stopped responding. I figured she wasn’t that into me or something and I didn’t need to be in a situation like that.

Then I got Tinder about two weeks after I stopped talking to her, and saw her on there the first day. We matched as soon as I (hesitantly) swiped right, so as I understand it she must have swiped right on me before that. So I figure, « All right, so she likes me, but sucks at texting or something. » I msg her something like « Hey, are you more talkative in person, the Bumble conversation was stiff, which bummed me out because I think you’re super cute ». She responds saying that she’s never on the dating apps, so I offer to add her on snapchat, which she agrees to.

So I tried to start another conversation on snapchat, and it’s the same thing! All one sided. I tried to set up a date but her family was going to be on vacation for a week, so I asked if we could hang out afterwards and she said yes. When they get back to the States I tried setting up 2 more dates which she said she was too busy working for. I asked her to let me know when she was free and she never did. But then she sent me a « Streaks » snap while she was at an iHop on one of the afternoons I tried to meet her on. Which leads to another confusing point. She doesn’t want to have a conversation (from my perspective) but she’ll send me « Streaks » snaps?? What is that all about? I’m not a big snapchat user.

So I hatched a final plan: She plays piano, so I’ll learn a song on the piano for her. She wanted me to learn Clocks by Coldplay, so I started learning that. Honestly I figured well, either this will get her attention, or I’ll now know a cool song on the piano to play for someone else haha!

Yea, so basically I want to hear what you guys think? Have I tried too much already? I figure she probably met someone she liked better, but idk. She does work a lot from what I understand. I just don’t get why she’d like me on both, add me on snap, and then put forth no effort. I want to send her a message so that she’ll stop sending me these pointless « Streaks » snaps, but I don’t want to completely tell her off? I was thinking something like this: « Hey, I understand that you’re busy, and you seem pretty cool, but honestly these « streaks » snaps are getting annoying. I just don’t see the point in having a streak with someone I haven’t actually met. If you would like to keep talking we definitely can, but I really don’t appreciate feeling used. If you want to keep talking I’d love to show you the progress I make on that Coldplay song, and maybe play it for you in person one day?? »

  1. As a girl, I say move on. She’s not worth it. If she does eventually respond and go on a date with you, do you think the confusing signals will get better? Imagine trying to communicate with her if this ever becomes a relationship. I really do think it’s better for you to move along.

  2. Send one last message that is respectful but honest that can be summarized as, “ I get next to nothing back from you, I’m moving on. “

In rare cases, that prompts some effort. Don’t be mistaken, though. Things settle back to you putting in a ton of effort.
