There’s a girl I’ve developed feelings for, but it comes with a catch. Most of the time it’s just.. She’s straight or she’s taken or some other obvious thing that stops me from trying to strike up a romantic relationship. This time, the catch is my brother. We’re both mid-20’s, she’s late 20’s early 30’s.

It hasn’t been a problem before, my brother and I have had pretty different taste in women up until now. He brought this girl around though, and I met her AFTER they broke up. I didn’t even know she was his ex until after I’d already started feeling something. That doesn’t make it any easier though.

I’ve already confided in him that I feel this way. He still has feelings for her too, but she’s made it clear she just wants friendship from him. She’s also made it clear she wants to date a woman next time, said casually between she, I, and a couple of our other friends while we were in an xbox party.

He’s aware I want to (and intend to) tell her how I feel. He wants me to be happy even if he’s not that happy about it himself. He doesn’t blame me though, how could he when he also fell for her? She makes it so easy to like her. I won’t say love, not yet.

I made a joke about it being like Vampire Diaries, likening myself to Damon (though I’m a female) and my brother to Stefan. I guess she’s our Elena? I just hope things work out well for us three.

I’m not sure how to go about telling her though. The times I’ve talked about it, told my brother and best friend, I was drunk. My anxiety fell away. I don’t want to tell her while I’m drunk though. I don’t want her thinking it’s the vodka talking and not me.

Tl;dr- I want to be with my brother’s ex-gf and the situation is kind of weird, and scary.
