I thought I was dreaming. “Too good to be true!” – tiny ugly voice was screaming in my head. After I gave up on love, kindness and on a chance to be happy with someone again, after dealing with huge trust issues, today’s morning was like a small ray of hope that maybe there still might be beauty in obscure places?

  1. I felt the same about my husband when we first started dating, too good to be true. But we have been together for 15 years and counting. And he still does so many little things and adds new stuff too all the time. There is hope, dont give up.❤

  2. That’s so wonderful to hear! You’ve got a good one by your side, and don’t forget that good things can happen to you. I know what it feels like to have everything fit perfectly into place and then think « it feels too good to be true » but enjoy it. Enjoy spending time with this guy!

  3. > “Too good to be true!” – tiny ugly voice was screaming in my head.

This used to happen to me all the time, especially as a teenager through college. It’s just your anxiety trying to sabotage things.

It’s one of the reasons I hate the whole « trust your gut » nonsense some people on here like to pull out every time someone is the slightest bit uncomfortable.

Not only is your « gut » just the sum of your prejudices, sometime your mind actively works against you too.

  4. I did this for someone once. We casually dated for a couple months and one day I slept over. She left for work (I was off) so just decided to stay and clean her entire apartment. I did the dishes, mopped, vacuumed up dog hair and even wiped down the counters and appliances.

When she got home for lunch and saw, all she said was, “oh that was nice” and never mentioned it again. No hug, no kiss, not even the words thank you.

I was like yep…I’m nothing to her.

  5. Dating a really amazing person who treated me well finally convinced me that I deserved love and that my expectations were reasonable. I will always be grateful to him for that. RIP R.W.

  6. I feel the same way about my bf. Our one year anniversary comes up in a few days, and I’m lucky to be with a man who treats me with the love and respect I’ve always wanted! ❤️

  7. I thought the same about my husband at first but I highly doubt that someone would do all of that and then expect to treat you like trash later, unless they are mentally unstable.

  8. I knew my boyfriend felt that he wanted to genuinely fit into my life when I saw him stacking the dishwasher, the very first evening he spent at my house. I’d been online dating for a number of years and had met quite a few men. I hadn’t realised how so many men just expected it to be me who did all the cooking and clearing up when they came over for a meal (fair enough, it was my house, but that’s the point: they felt it was MY house, meaning that it wasn’t anything to do with them).

When he helped me clean up after the meal, I watched him at the dishwasher and thought: « this guy is serious about finding a woman who is going to be in his life. He wants to bring something positive into my home ». I stood back and really looked at him with fresh eyes. I knew then that he was going to be my fella.

  9. Been with my amazing nurse gf for over 5 yrs.
she LOVES all the little things I do for her.
I make her work lunch, I massage her feet after work til she falls asleep.
I fill her car with gas and I make her laugh all the time. I always have a bottle of water by her nightstand and if it’s cold outside I warm up her car. She is 100% worth it and appreciates it. So men, there are women that like our little efforts!!!

  10. Enjoy it.fyi just because something doesnt work out doesnt make it a waste.trust you learned more then you think you did.enjoy the good moments

  11. I’m so happy for you! There are plenty of great, loving, caring guys out there, and sounds like you landed one.

I love to make my girlfriend feel good. I help her out with things around the house and give her a shoulder/back rub every day we hang out.

She makes me feel good every day, so I like to make her feel really good too.

  12. One of my favorites things to do
For My ladywas have the house completely cleaned and have her favorite drink/candy bar waiting for her when she came home from work on Friday. As soon as she walked in the house the relief of “I can actually relax and start my weekend”

We love doing stuff like that 🙂

  13. I would be curious of his motivation for doing all of this? Is he a people pleaser? Have you two slept together? Does he need a place to live? Have you been to his house? This is normal to question. There are good people out there, but many are playing a role with a hidden agenda. I hope he is a good one and remains consistent with his actions and words.

  14. I’m glad you found one of the guys who still has love to give. I always have a lot of love to give but a lot of women have a way of draining a man emotionally, physically, and financially. I still have love to give, but damn life has a way of jading people

  15. I dunno I would do these things at any random house I stayed at. Friends, date, parents… certainly a good sign!
But I wouldn’t read too big of a deal into it beyond that.

PROVIDED that by « cleaning the apartment » you mean « picking up 5 random pieces of trash » not anything major. If he was scrubbing down surfaces that’s bizarre.

(Also some of this might be weird if it required him to rummage around in drawers looking for tools or cat food, etc. Situational)

  16. I’m that guy. Women usually hate this kind of thing or ignore it, just sayin. It really left an impression on my fiance though so the risk is worth it.
