Dating : What does this Hinge message mean?
Hi all!
I’ve never used dating apps before but my best friend suggested I try one so I downloaded Hinge. A guy sent me this message: What are you doing on here? You’re wifey material
We were very different types, like he was heavily tattooed/piercings and I’m more clean cut so it didn’t seem like he actually wanted to match, I think he just wanted to tell me that.
What does this mean/why would a guy say this?

It seems pretty obvious that he’s interested in you and might be in a ‘long relationship’ kind of way? (Or at least he pretends to)
What does the type has to do with anything? Very different people can get along very well…
It sounds like he is using it like a hookup app. In my experience Hinge is not a hook up app and is more about relationships but ymmv

He means that you seem like a way more attractive/awesome person compared to others on the app. It’s definitely a compliment.
It’s a compliment but tread lightly, I find a lot of guys send these same messages to many girls and unless you’re simply looking for a hookup, it most likely won’t go anywhere. He’s just fishing and seeing who takes the bait.
But as for the « different types », you’d be surprised how many guys that are the complete opposite of you would be interested.
That all being said, there’s no harm in continuing to message him and seeing what he’s about. It could be very genuine but more forward than you’re used to!
I’d ignore him. I get stupid comments like that from women on tinder…
I thought Hinge was for mainly finding relationships?? Maybe he thought you just wanted to do casual dating.
