Dating : 22 (F) may found the one 26 (M) but distance…advice!
Was always curious about the tinder hype. I tried it when abroad and had the most amazing date with a guy there. It was his first tinder date too. We immediately clicked. Since that date, we hung out every day, I met his friends, and we talked and talked for hours. We talked about making things long-distance (he offered to visit me) but I was hesitant about committing because I am moving to another foreign country for 10 months (~3 hours away by plane from where this guy is from). I didn’t know what my plans would be after 10 months (ex. job, grad school, more travel, etc) and felt like it was unfair to do long distance if there was no long term plan. Therefore, was with this guy for about 1 month and then we cut ties when I left but had the most amazing last night together. I offered for him to visit me in the place I’ll be living for 10 months but he said he didn’t want to do things as friends because he thinks you can’t go from being intimate to friends. I saw it more as having things be friendly is better than never talking again. Therefore that idea was dropped…
We haven’t talked since I’ve left. The breakup was mutual/understandable because the only thing holding us back was the uncertainty of plans. I know it seems weird because we were only together for 1 month but things just clicked and flowed so easy. It was like we knew each other longer.
So the question: is it weird to reach out and attempt to be friends? I enjoyed his wit. Or should I just let this one go? I feel weird reaching out because we haven’t talked at all since I left (~2 weeks).
TLDR: might have met the one in a foreign country. Can’t commit because unsure of life plans. Do I still keep in touch or let it go?
