Dating : Guy&Girl Friendships vs Dating

I’ve had issues with creating guy friendships on several occasions, because the guy was interested in dating but wouldn’t be clear about it. I would meet a new guy through a friend or out somewhere, and he would then invite me on a day to come hang out with his group of friends. This didn’t seem like a date to me and I was down to make some new friends, so I would go hang out with them. The guy who asked me didn’t give any sort of indication that he was into me romantically. We’d continue to hang out in this way that he invited me to do things with his group. We wouldn’t really flirt or talk much during those times, I would kinda just hang and talk to everyone there. Then at one point he’d suddenly stop talking to me and inviting me to things. I’m confused because I’m not sure there was anything going on between us, and that we could be friends. I’m just wondering if I was leading him on to think there was anything romantic there. Is there a way to let a guy know that I’m just interested in friendship (and actually wanna be his friend/group) from the very beginning? Was I giving of a romance vibe just by agreeing to come to his group hangs?

tldr: How do I make friends with guys without making it seem flirty? Is that even possible?

  1. You honestly just have to tell them straight up. I’m a guy, and most of them are absolutely terrible with hints. Be honest and tell him you’re not looking for a relationship, and you just want to be friends. If he doesn’t like that and stops being friends with you, he’s not someone you’d want in your life either romantically or platonically anyway.

  2. Im a guy and I have a unfortunate habit of liking Girls if they seem cool as a friend
I get interested in Girls that i can have a friends hip with because thats what im looking for in a relationship, just with a little extra…
I only have one close female friend and I honestly dont know why im not romantically interested in her…
Meeting Them naturally i is Best i guess.
    Idk….

  3. If a guy only ever asked me to group events I would assume he was just interested in being friends do if he stopped asking me I would think he was annoyed with me for some other reason.

    Communication.

You can’t really know whether you or your friend start to develop a romantic interest later on. So you’ll have to have that conversation again from time to time.

To be honest your story sounds a bit different to me. He probably got bored or waits for you to invite him. That’s something a friend can expect.

Personally I do think guy and girl can easily be friends, as long as neither of them are interested in the other person.
