Do you think they recognized you?

And does anyone else feel that this phenomenon is surveillancey/creepy? I live in a major metro area and it makes the city feel less anonymous.

What do you think?

  1. I have some great stories. I will leave the best one where the girl told me I should hang myself. While shopping downtown the next day she walked right past me. Eyes met. She looked terrified. I’ve seen her a few more times and the last time she smiled as if we had some kind of connection. Bizarre.

I went to starbucks and a girl who I had a convo with half a year ago that went nowhere was working and she sprinted for the back. I sat down to drink my coffee facing the register and she didn’t come out the entire 20 minutes.

  2. Yes! I ran into a guy I was talking to on Tinder at the groceey store….it was super awkward. It was my first fay off in 2 weeks on 60 hour worl1 weeks and I needed 1 thing. Needless to say I didn’t make the best first impression lol

  3. I don’t ever recognize people but I’ve gotten some looks..
I also live in a very big, metro area so I think it might be trying to decipher if I really am “that chick from Bumble”.

  4. I meet this girl, which decided to ghost me on Tinder after asking her out, irregulary in my gym. There only once was a head nod, but we ignore each other.

  5. >Do you think they recognized you?

Happens to me from time to time. Of course, I’m easy to spot; being 6’5″ black and fit. Makes for some funny conversations and sometimes develop into dates.

Not at all; you literally have your face and name on a public website/app. If you want anonymity; don’t use online dating; simple.

  6. I noticed at a bar one night a group of guys kept looking at me then looking back at a phone. They were like 2 feet away from me so I asked what they were doing. The guy holding the phone turned it around to show me and asked if it was me. They were looking at my tinder profile and comparing it to my tattoos in real life to make sure it was me.

  7. Yes and it was awkward but funny. She was definitely shy, she adverted eye contact immediately. So I just got my coffee and sat down table next to her and smiled. She turned bright red and looked like she was ready to die, so I just made a dumb comment and we hit it off after that..

Even had it happen through Instagram. She was a friend of a friend. She added me then randomly dm me. We talked for a while, even mutually shared private pictures with each other. Ran into one another at a piercing shop and come to find out she had a boyfriend. So I just smiled, complimented on of her piercings and walked away.

  8. I have the exact opposite issue. I never find anyone I know on dating apps which is good but also sucks because I would like to date someone from my area . I live in Texas and so the dating pool is geometrically large.some dates I would have to drive 2 hours to see.

  9. I did. Twice. One guy figured out my profession from my profile, very specific, and started to have conversations out loud on the topic so I would notice it. I only connected the dots later when I went to the bathroom, checked my app, and saw he had swiped on me. The other time I kept bumping into this guy at local coffee shops, we matched, I sent the obligatory first bumble message and he let it expire. Haha Next time I see him at the coffee shop is going to be funny.
