Dating : Help me help my girl overcome negative thoughts.
So my girl has been facing this depressed phase of her life and I’ve been trying so hard to help her over the months. For some reason she’s been following pages on Instagram that post depressing/sad quotes and depressing pictures, worse than that she’s been liking them. I tried so hard to make her unfollow the accounts and overcome this phase, it worked a couple of times but now she’s back at it. I got the idea to message these pages and tell them about whats happening hopefully they’ll block her account but I haven’t found a professional way to text these pages. My request for everyone on this subreddit Is to help me write (or write me) a professional message so I can send it to the pages and hopefully they’ll listen and block her account. Note that these pages has so many followers so the message and the story should hit them in order for it to work.
Sorry to interject but this will not help.
Your girlfriend isn’t going through a depressive phase, she is depressed. She knows she is depressed and her liking these pages is a cry for help. It is her relating and showing the world she is hurting. You need for her to get professional help so she doesn’t feel like she needs to find self help on Instagram. She probably finds a bitter sweet connection to the people and the posts there because people can relate. You need to help get her to a place she no longer feels the need to do that, not stop her being physically able to.
So do you want advice on the message and how to write it or other avenues of approach?
depression isnt a phase, its a lifetime of thoughts and everyone has it. whether you believe you do or not is on you. the sooner you realize that the better you can be at being her support structure on her daily battle with it instead of being a « fixer » trying to fix her.
