Dating : I [19M] want to ask out this girl [19F] from my class although we haven’t talked in a while

I graduated high school (or at least my countries’ equivalent of it) a little less than two months ago. One of the last things we did was write some little goodbyes to each other in the class, I wrote something pretty generic to this girl, basically ‘Thanks for all the help with math over the years. Hope to see you sometime!’. She, on the other hand, wrote ‘Good-looking and funny! What can go wrong? 😉 I’m gonna miss you.’. When I read this I was a bit curious, I’d had a crush on this girl before, but had moved on since then. We’d hung out one or two times outside of school and sometimes asked each other for help with homework but that was basically it. I also remember her comment when I two weeks earlier got named ‘The Class’s NILF (Nerd I’d Like to Fuck)’, when she said ‘Yeah, a lot of people thought that fitted you actually…’.

I of course know that this doesn’t really mean anything, but the smallest show of interest from her got me thinking about maybe actually asking her out again. I was a bit afraid of making things awkward at school before, but now that issue is gone. To be honest I’d probably done it right after our graduation if I wasn’t already *kind of* seeing someone at that point and didn’t want to be dishonest.

So I’d like to ask her out, but I’m really not sure how to approach this without coming off as a bit weird. I was thinking of maybe just reaching out and message her something like ‘Hey, I know this may come out of nowhere but I just thought of you the other day and wanted to say hi, what’s up?’.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
