Dating : I should have listened to all of you!

Dating : I should have listened to all of you!

So, I (42 F) started dating a man (46 M) over 4 months ago that I had met online. Two months ago I started asking redditors what the heck was going on. There was constant drama, drama with his ex, excuses, apologies, but then repeated behavior, hiding his phone, etc. Whenever I was with him he made me feel amazing, so I ignored everyone’s comments to run.

Well guess what redditors, you were all right! He lives 3 hours away, and I always drove to him. He said he wanted to come closer to me for the 4th of July weekend. So, I made plans, bought tickets for events, and booked us a room at a vacation spot. He literally made something up 2 days before the holiday to get mad at me about. He left work early the day before the holiday, and went to play golf instead of driving to see me. Last night he apologized, and his excuse was that he had a bad day at work. I swear he does this just so that I take him back so he can just do it again.

On the bright side, I did not waste my plans and tickets. I went with a man who has been very nice to me who I have been friends with for 2 years. He is going through a divorce now. This man has always been supportive and kind. He kissed me that night, so now I know he likes me.

So, thank you redditors, for putting the bug in my ear that the other man is no good, and for helping me to not beg him to come to me and instead spend time with a better man.

  1. Yeah screw the first guy. He sounds like he really sucks.
Did you tell him off yet?
I’d send him something short and sweet if not. Then never reply again.
I’m glad you found someone who you know will treat you right so soon though! hope it works out for you
