Dating : I’m trying

I’m 30 never been married. My last ex and I dated for 10 months. It has been four months since our break up. To make a long story short he was not communicating throughout the relationship very well. I was all giddy and excited about a lot of weddings we had coming up. One night I asked him if he saw a future with me or at the very least when we were going to stay over at each other’s houses. We only saw each other 2 or 3 days a week. His response was I’m not there yet. After trying to call him on his phone, text him and even talk to him in person about things. He missed out on meeting me to discuss our relationship. Couldn’t answer my call. Then on my lunch hour I pressed him and then told him basically if we couldn’t talk about where he sees the relationship going that we needed to be done.

I know not all people are like this as it seems like he had a fear of commitment or avoidant attachment style. I’m trying to put myself out there again. I know I need someone who communicates well and can tell me when something is wrong or talk through it. What are ways to make people who are OLD show you actions? Are there any date ideas to show how true someone is? I know not all people are bad but I have been burned on more than one occasion.

  1. I’m not sure when was the earliest you had mentioned marriage in your last relationship, but I think it is important to communicate this early on. Sure it might backfire because western society is so afraid of commitment, but if it were me, I wouldn’t have wanted to be with someone like that anyway. Make your intentions clear with people you’re dating early on, and put a timeline on it. Sounds extreme, but it is important to find someone who has a similar mindset that wants to get married in the next __ years. You don’t want to waste your time on someone who is wishy washy and doesn’t know what they want.
