Dating : Is it actually possible to be with a crush?

I have been wondering lately is it possible, as not even one of my crushes was interested in me romantically. And i keep thinking that looking at somebody as crush is just an indicator that she is « over your league » (i know, fuck that term, but still). Im afraid that getting into a relationship is about compromise, and understanding that it’s more about decent dose of sympathy and tolerating each others flaws. That being fascinated by a person automatically puts them out of the reach.

  1. Not at all. I’ve been lucky enough to be on the « other side » plenty of times.

I find half the time I date a crush I realize she isn’t for me. While the other half, oh dear lord its sparks. It’s a blissful experience.

But the problem is. Just because you’re in love with each other doesn’t always mean you guys should be together. Unfortunately, one of my biggest crushes I eventually dated ended up ruining a chapter of my life. Other times, it worked out pretty good, but still didn’t work out because she wanted to start a family or was too immature.

I feel like people always think the worst things in life can happen to them, but never the best. Its a totally fked up mentality. Everyone can get something close to what they want, you just have to be patient.

  2. A crush often implies infatuation with a person and not based on mutual attraction, respect and friendship. This can rarely ever work. Also, you must consider the ‘social status’ of both individuals – are they at around the same level? Is one person a popular, cool and outgoing person while they other one is the awkward nerdish type. If this is the case the probability of success is very low. That said, there are exceptions, so its worth a try if you intuitively feel there is a chance of success.
