Dating : To trust my gut or my heart?

Dating : To trust my gut or my heart?

I [24F] started dating this guy [25M] recently and things seem to be going great… when we are together. It’s a little bit of a long distance relationship, we are a little under two hours from each other. When we are together, we are always laughing and have a good time. He’s sweet and affectionate. We’ve been talking for two months now and I’ve seen him 6 times. He doesn’t really respond to my texts and sometimes when we call he seems really distracted. He has assured me that he likes me, but my gut just feels like something is off anyway? I feel like I make most of the plans and I reach out to him first. It just feels like I make more effort than him. He has a lot going on in his life right now and his schedule is busy… I’m trying to be mindful of that, but it just doesn’t feel like it’s clicking as easy as it should be.

I really like him and want to keep pursuing him. It just doesn’t feel like he’s excited as I am. I’ve tried talking to him about it and he tells me that he does like me… but I am still left feeling this way. Any thoughts?

  1. Trust your gut. Often your heart is quick to follow. It sounds like you have concrete evidence to support what your gut is telling you. It also sounds like you want more affection than what he is willing to give you. Doesn’t make him wrong, or you right. Use what’s in front of your senses, not what you *want* to see.

  2. Agree with backing off advice. The last thing you want to do is let this anxiety control you, making you constantly contact him for reassurance. That’ll just push him away. Let him contact you next time

  3. The heart is a stupid thing it’s like a baby, a baby will try and touch anything (a hot iron, snake etc) that’s why you should use your head/gut there is someone out there that will move heaven and earth for you, just be patient and find them.
