Dating : What to text on dating apps?
Hi guys!
I get a lot of matches with a lot of women I find attractive, quite a few also write to me first.
The problem is that often I dont reply or the conversation dies out because I dont know what to say at all. Flirting seems so weird over text, its hard to be witty. I can keep a conversation going by just being friendly tho (asking about hobbies etc), but often this just turns out boring and dull.
I have pretty good social skills irl tho, but on tinder I find it very confusing and hard to « just be myself ».
Do you have any advice for me?
Don’t dwell too much on texting. Set up a date with her within one or two days ASAP.
If you find conversations are dying off then you should try asking for actual dates earlier. It doesn’t even need to flow well if you’re honest and say “You know, I like talking to you let’s go get coffee ” in the middle of a conversation you can set up the date and then finish the convo after. You said it yourself that it’s easier to talk in person so just get to that point.
Just write the things you’d say
Depends on their profile. I’ve gotten a lot of good book and movie recommendations from people while chatting, and in my profile I write that I like to listen to true crime podcasts, so often that sparks a conversation. The people who have a fun personality get my number so we can talk off the app better.
Doesn’t matter, if your matching and they’re messaging first, then your already following the 2 unspoken rules of the internet
If you aren’t witty, then you aren’t witty. Don’t try to be something you aren’t as it will come off as fake.
You’re right, asking about hobbies can become a drag pretty quick.
Pull the bandaid after a few texts. Get to know a few common interests, find something you’re interested in going to yourself (a concert, a movie, etc), or, if you really aren’t sure if you’ll have much chemistry, then set up something quicker and more casual like a coffee date or ice cream or something that you can end quickly if there is no chemistry.
Sounds like you’re having luck, now, do the hard work of scheduling the date.
