Dating : Boyfriend refused to have a video call and not want to do it until Sunday. Odd?
We’re going through a lockdown. I can’t and I don’t want to take the risk of going out without any fair reasons (for food/ medical/ emergency…) people can get fined by that.
Anyway my boyfriend started to be distant since the fifth day of the lockdown. Today usually the day that we meet every week. I can’t come over so I suggest a video call. I actually suggested this idea right when the lockdown began but he didn’t seem to be into it, always prefers in person. I know it’s always better in person, but with this situation I’m offering another way to keep in touch with him. He was like “let’s call on Sunday” (?), “not tonight” babe. And never tell me why. Now am I reasonable to be anxious about it?
Trust your instinct. If he seems distant, it’s because he is. You should tell him how you feel about this and see if he’s willing to open up.
For sure open up about this anxiety with him, explain that this behaviour makes you feel this way. However also keep in mind its also unhealthy to expect constant communication and if a partner desires space, they desire space, and aren’t at fault for wanting it without reason, he’s a person after all. Nonetheless, if that bothers you it’s fine and should be communicated with him to establish the nature of your relationship
How to move forward really depends on how much you like this guy.
To me, it seems that he’s not really interested in doing a long distance (or at least a non-in person relationship) and that’s fine. Long distance relationships aren’t for everyone. It’s not necessarily a red flag, as it could just be a byproduct of his character.
But, if you feel his qualities that make you attracted to him are replaceable And you dislike the thought of the present situation continuing, replace him with someone else.
Just my perspective: I hate video calls. I wouldn’t want to do that either.
You should be very suspicious of him. If I were you, I would’ve gone to his place to see for myself or send someone.
