Dating : How to leave my phone number with a woman who works at my local bookstore?

I started frequenting my local book store, as they have pretty much all the books I want to buy. Over the last few visits, spanning a few months, I took notice of one of the women working there and she keeps being the one to serve me whenever I come in. I find her cute. I got to know one of the guys working in there, so they do recognize me/know who I am I guess.

I want to leave my number with her, and I know what I want to say, but even though the bookstore is relatively quiet in the morning, I just can’t get to talk to her when others aren’t around. I don’t want to start coming in every day over the weekend, just to do that as that’s a bit weird I think, and even though I can come in and try every week, what are your suggestions?

Perhaps ask her to help me find a book?

I always regret asking for dating help on forums, as I know how it will turn out…maybe this time will be different?

  1. You could try writing your number on a bookmark and tell her you’ve a whole bunch of them, so you’re giving her one? Good luck!

  2. I’d say ask her for a book recommendation. Make some talking points about it. Read it. If you enjoyed it, great! Ask her for another! Slowly incorporate other things to talk about when you bring up common interests in books. Get to know her a bit. Basically, make it so it’s a delight to see you every now and then. And then ask her out for something simple: « Would you be up for a coffee sometime? »

    Best of luck!

  3. Honestly, and I’ll get downvoted for this, it’s really rude and creepy to approach women at their place of work. The best thing you could do is let this one go… because you could be getting signals that seem like she’s interested, that are really just the politeness that she’s expected to show to customers. When I worked in the service industry, I dealt with many uncomfortable situations involving customers asking for my number or flirting with me, and absolutely none of it was pleasant. She’s there to work, let her be (especially if you’re coming in more frequently just to see her)
