Dating : The boy I’ve been dating has been elusive, basically ghosted me and now he deleted my number or blocked me. Why?

I’ve been dating this guy for 3 months, at the beginning everything was good, even too good to be true. He basically presented me to his parents although they weren’t aware of it (awkward to say the least) then he started being less and less affectionate and available. Apparently he got sick and was overall busy in exams.
I was finally going to catch up with him, then he call it off, withou even suggesting an alternative day or something.
We never really talked about our intentions (casual or looking for a relationship) but I noticed that he was loosing interest and he was less and less available. So when he called off our meeting I just said that it was alright not a problem.
He never answered back to that and didn’t reach out to me again (neither did I). I figured there was nothing more to add from his side and basically he’s been sort of ghosting me.
Now I think he blocked me or deleted my number from his contacts. (profile pic is blank, no last access details available…)

I’m a bit puzzled. I though he wasn’t interested anymore, maybe he realized that things were getting too serious and didn’t have the guts to say it openly, so I just let things go as he didn’t seem interested any longer.
Why would he even delete my number?
